ABREJoin the ABRE

Joining the ABRE requires three steps, some of which you may have already completed:

1. You must be an industry practitioner in good standing.

2. Agree to abide by the ABRE Code of Ethics (see below):

3. Submit the ABRE membership APPLICATION.
Applcations can only be submitted once per calendar year. If you are requesting Full Membership, you will be contacted for additional information.

Code of Ethics

ABRE members are required to demonstrate and maintain high standards of ethical conduct, and must:
> Objectively examine and analyze all relevant case evidence using established, validated principles.
> Only render opinions that are true and accurate with a demonstratively reasonable basis.
> Be prepared to produce a written report to support the faithful replication of expert results.
> Never withhold any type of findings that could misrepresent or distort case facts or findings.
> Never misrepresent credentials, training, experience, education or membership status.
> Never publicly disparage forensic colleagues except in an official capacity on an ethics review board.
> Safeguard confidential information and exercise due care to prevent its improper disclosure.
> Perform professional duties in accordance with the law and the highest standards of integrity.

Associate Membership

The ABRE is open to anyone who:
> Abides by the ABRE Code of Ethics.
> Has a professional career or interest in working with recorded evidence.
> Associate membership request is approved by the ABRE committee.
NOTE: Membership may be revoked or banned, pending ABRE Committee review, upon violation of ABRE ethics.

Full membership

Full membership is open to anyone who:
> Abides by the ABRE Code of Ethics.
> Has a professional career or interest in working with recorded evidence.
> Full membership request is approved by the ABRE committee.
> Has completed at least one verifiable year of forensic audio or video enhancement, authentication and/or identification experience.
NOTE: Membership may be revoked or banned, pending ABRE Committee review, upon violation of ABRE ethics. Only full members of the ABRE can denote themselves as such or serve on ABRE committies.
